ZZT’s remix EP of ZZafrika dropped last week, proving to be one of the most satisfying releases this year. The original, a collaboration between Tiga and Zombie Nation (ZZT), is a Boys Noize-ish electro track. The 2011 remix release, which celebrates the 100th release of Turbo Records, comes stocked with remixes across the EDM spectrum, with highlights from Julio Bashmore, Gesaffelstein (have fun pronouncing that one), and of course Afrojack.
The remix taking the cake on this fine release is that of Julio Bashmore. The original gets an incredibly organic makeover, one that brings you straight to feeling like you’re on the beach. The Gesaffelstein remix stays a bit closer to the original with the electro feel, but really yonks it up with some seriously deluxe tribal beats behind it. Last, but definitely not least is the aforementioned Afrojack rework. As expected, the Dutchman perfectly festifies the track, adding a stronger buildup and a dose of pure energy.
