March marks the 25th year of Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto label, and to celebrate, he’s put a spin on one of his recent releases, February’s You Could Be Happy.
While the original was a dark and heavy dub-tinged track, Paul’s remix is loaded with groovy energy and catchy bass riffs. Angela McCluskey’s vocal also takes on a different persona boosted along by a few loop effects, making this into something of a surefire future anthem. It’s certainly got all the potential to be a major crowd pleaser, and with Paul playing the likes of Electric Forest and Creamfields this summer, it won’t be long until we find out. Despite the “future house” tag, this track also has strong hints of proper old-school house about it, a welcome nod to the long history of both Paul’s productions and his equally legendary Perfecto brand.
