It hasn’t taken long for Michael Woods’ distinct tech-prog sound to take off over the past year. Back in November, I posted his track Nitro, which marks just one of a series of highly acclaimed tracks on Woods’ part. Already a top feature on Beatport with every release he makes, Woods has won the hearts and minds of many DJs across multiple dance genres. So what’s got people so excited about this guy?
With Woods, every detail within the layers upon layers of synths and kicks sounds immaculate. Like Nitro, First Aid, newly released on his own label Diffused Music, draws you in with the melody and builds the track up to its boiling point before diving into a massive breakdown. Sure, it sounds great on headphones or home speakers, but the utter massiveness of his sound can only be appreciated in a live setting. First Aid is a true festival track, capturing the emotion of sweeping melody and party-hard beats.
