Tech progressive sensation Michael Woods has returned with new EP Nitro. Just like Sander van Doorn, Woods has made a career out of redefining the line between house and trance, although he’s a bit closer to the house side of things, the same way SvD is to trance. Woods’ thunderous tech beats are always accompanied by deeply-layered melodies that steadily lead into massive breakdowns. Every track is meticulously crafted–a reflection of his extensive classical training from an early age.
EP title track Nitro is no different from his previous masterpieces in terms of quality and precision. It reminds me a little of Arguru by Deadmau5 with its use of wicked analog synths that give the track that Deadmau5-y ominous quality. It’s no wonder he’s one of the most frequently showcased artists on the Mau5trap label.
