Modestep seems to be enjoying a stint of UK stardom, and for good reason too. The guys have been doing some pretty big things, namely blurring the lines between live act and dubstep DJs. Over here in the states they’re not the most well-known group, but now is your chance to catch up and say you were ahead of the curve when before these guys get big over here.
When Modestep’s single To the Stars dropped last month (official video below), you know I got excited. The single trades deadly drops for a big room sound that does not fluctuate widely in terms of intensity, but rather maintins a melodic vibe throughout the entire song. It opens with a lovely acoustic guitar intro, then takes a bend and joins the wobbly side. It’s got a very Flux Pavilion feel to it with all the big room screeches and vibrant synth. If you thought that was intense, check out the remixes, namely the ones by Break The Noize & The Autobots and Document One. The former is a very Skrillex-like production with heavy bass, screeching riffs, and quirky vocal samples. Speaking of Skrillex, the Document One remix sounds an awful lot like Skrillex’s complextro productions. If you’re a fan of that fist-pumping, head-banging sound, then you have to be sure to check out both of these remixes.
