Tristam, known to his friends as Leandre Berube, is a Canadian dubstep producer who lives by the mantra “all is within” and cites Flux Pavilion as a musical influence. Flux, and all of the other artists in the Circus Records camp, have a uniquely recognizable sound that typifies Circus tunes. This sound is wholly palpable in Tristam’s latest big-room slammer entitled Follow Me, a tune that fans voted up through label Monstercat’s VIP system, earning its eventual release. Tristam already has a few releases under his belt on both Twisted Monkey and Monstercat, but Follow Me could be the tune that establishes him as a major player in dubstep.
Follow Me begins on a very somber note, but soon escalates as the sliced vocal samples manifest into an incoherent melody. The track’s percussion is incredibly humanized with loads of swing, giving the rhythm a very Rusko-esque syncopation. After the first drop, a distorted main synth comes in that’s as obnoxious as it is brilliant. It’s apparent that subwoofers are going to take a pounding with this one, as the bass is relentless from start to finish. Bass music fans rejoice; this is dancefloor insanity!
