Afrojack and Steve Aoki’s monster is finally out! Dutch house’s poster boy and LA’s dirty electro ringleader have combined forces with MC Miss Palmer to unleash the fury. This fury happens to be vegetarian too. With the title No Beef, it seems like it might it could be an ode to Aoki’s vegetarian ways. Random or not, the song has been able to draw both herbivores and carnivores, making it all the way to the top of the Beatport Top 10 chart. This is quite an accomplishment too, seeing as how this song has been floating around for a few months now without the lyrics.
The beginning of No Beef ushers the listener in with some light melodies that lead into a solid kick. It almost sound alien-like, especially when the buildup begins with those chords of synth. The real power of the song comes from the drop, as one would expect from a collab between Aoki and Afrojack. It’s got the insanity of Afrojack’s usual Dutch trumpet drops, but Aoki adds in his own clean-sounding electro synth to really take it up a notch. After the onslaught of the drop, Miss Palmer comes in with some catchy lyrics so you can rest your synth-drenched head. One last drop is accompanied by a lighter progression of chords this time, and then you reach the finish line. If you prefer to hear just the electro madness with no vocals, I’ve also added the instrumental version, as well as the official video. Do you think this collab was well done?
