Where to Be on NYE
Dada Life - Kick Out the Epic Motherf*cker (Original Mix) [So Much Dada]
Swanky Tunes - Across the Light (PeaceTreaty Remix) [Mixmash]
Nicky Romero - Camorra (Original Mix) [Fly Eye]

It’s the question on every EDM lover’s lips right now: Where are you going to be on New Year’s Eve? NYE is historically an epic night for dance music, with multiple events going on around the country. 2011 promises to be the most rockin’ New Year’s Eve ever, thanks to EDM’s explosion in popularity over the last year. So where is the best place for you to be? LT3 has narrowed down the New Year’s festivities to a few key events that we will personally be attending, and we want to see you there too! Check out the list below.

Avicii & Friends @ Pier 94, New York City

Who wouldn’t want to ring in the New Year with current king of uplifting house: Avicii? Back when tickets initially went on sale in September, the demand was so high that the ticketing site crashed and all tickets were sold out in a matter of minutes. Due to the overwhelming demand, a new lineup was released that includes Arty, Cazzette, and Swanky Tunes, as well as a new set of tickets, which can be purchased here. Unlike many New Year’s Eve festivities in NYC, this event is 18+, so make sure you take advantage of that all you 18 to 20 year olds!

Insomniac pres. White Wonderland, Anaheim

West coast events titan Insomniac obviously wasn’t going to let the new year pass by without throwing their own soiree, and they’re gonna be doing it all in white. That’s right–everyone who attends White Wonderland must be clothed all in white, similar to the Sensation events that happen in Europe. The event actually spans beyond New Year’s Eve all the way into a second lineup on New Year’s Day. The lineup on the 31st includes such heavyweights as Dada Life, Kaskade, Benny Benassi, and Paul van Dyk. If you choose to go on New Year’s Day as well, Steve Angello will be there with his Size labelmates AN21 & Max Vangeli, as well as Thomas Gold. This is sure to be an event to remember, as every Insomniac event is–get your tickets here.

Kaskade @ Marquee, Las Vegas

Anaheim isn’t the only place the unstoppable Kaskade will be spinning at on New Year’s Eve–after he’s done with his set at White Wonderland, Cali’s favorite DJ will be headed to Marquee, Las Vegas, where he is currently a resident DJ, to spin for the crowds in the City of Sin. Kaskade was recently crowned the #1 American DJ by the DJ Times poll in a ceremony at Marquee, so you know that Kaskade is more than at home in this high-end club. Tickets and table reservations are available here. As an added bonus, if you show your ticket stub at TAO at The Venetian or Lavo at The Palazzo on New Year’s Day, you receive a 10% meal discount.

SnowGlobe, Lake Tahoe

If skiing’s on your mind for New Year’s, the three-day Snowglobe festival in Lake Tahoe is the place to be. The lineup is more glitch hop and dubstep heavy than many of the New Year’s events happening this year, so if that’s your preferred sound, this might be your winner! Featured artists include Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, The Glitch Mob, A-Trak, Datsik, Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, and Madeon. VIP and general admission tickets are still available here, as well as special shuttle passes and area skiing discounts.

BPM Music Festival, Playa del Carmen, Mexico

For all you minimal and tech house heads out there, you may want to consider heading to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the 5th annual BPM Music Festival. The New Year’s Eve event features Danny Tenaglia, but that is far from the only thing going on at this ten-day event. You can buy tickets for some or all of the festivities, which will feature over 200 DJs mostly from the minimal/tech world, including Funkagenda, Danny Howells, Dubfire, Cedric Gervais, and Boris. BPM runs from December 30-January 8, so you may be able to do more than one New Year’s event if BPM is in your sights! Get your tickets here.

DROP NYE, Anaheim

In case White Wonderland is a bit too much pressure on your wallet, Anaheim is having a second event on the 31st called DROP NYE. With a lineup that is arguably just as good or better than White Wonderland, you certainly won’t be settling for second best if you decide to go the DROP route. Held at The Grove of Anaheim, DROP will feature such names as Bart B More, R3hab, Nicky Romero, and PeaceTreaty. If your tastes are a bit more electro leaning and you’re gonna be in the Anaheim area, this may be the event for you! Get your tickets here.
