Fresh off the success of a fruitful 2013, Volkoder returned today with People House, a new EP on Kittball, the indie German label run by Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora.
Writing off Marcos Benedetti, better known as Volkoder, because of his young age would be a grave error. The 23-year-old Brazilian has already released tracks on famed labels Go Deeva, Deadfunk, Body Music, and Lapsus. His hit single Detroit made waves last year after receiving support from two of deep house’s most respected artists, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss. Benedetti’s latest effort, People House EP, contains three new deep and tech house tunes that have garnered early support from the likes of Betoko, P.A.C.O., and Tube & Berger.
Futuristic synths and thumping bass stabs are prominent in People House, though it’s the track’s rhythmic percussion and trippy looping vocals that complete this layered, deep tech bomb. The title track leads into Do You Love, a track that showcases Volkoder’s keen production ability. Incorporating seemingly unrelated elements in one production is no easy task, but Volkoder manages to produce a well balanced and cohesive track, titled Do You Love. A funky bassline forms the foundation while the alluring disco-style female vocal softens it a bit. The trilogy finishes on a slight industrial note with Tension. Lush synths lead into the male vocal, which creates a slight industrial feel without compromising the essence of deep/tech house percussion.
