Virgin Mobile has just announced the stellar line-up for this year’s Virgin Mobile Freefest in Columbia, Maryland–the annual festival series that has generated over $800,000 towards the fight against homelessness. Presented by Samsung, this year’s festival falls on Sept. 21 and brings an eclectic lineup of 20 artists to Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion–its fifth year at the outdoor venue. Notable EDM acts on this year’s lineup include Kaskade, Pretty Lights, Madeon, and Gareth Emery, among others. With about 50,000 attendees last year, the festival will once again feature three stages, including the very popular EDM stage, Dance Forest.
While the festival is free, Virgin Group’s non-profit foundation Virgin Unite is asking all attendees to donate at least $10 toward their co-initiative with local youth services organization Sasha Bruce Youthwork to curb youth homelessness. Dubbed The RE*Generation USA, this co-initiative has already received enough donations to fund a new shelter for homeless youth in Washington, DC, called the Sasha Bruce RE*Generation House.
Tickets for 2013’s Freefest will go “On Free” on Friday, Aug. 9 at 12 noon (EDT) on the Ticketfly.com website. For those who would like some Freefest swag and guaranteed admission, a limited number of “Freemium” tickets will be available for purchase, with the proceeds going towards The RE*Generation USA. Ticketfly will be waiving all fees for those that print their tickets themselves or pick up their tickets at Merriweather Post Pavilion or the 9:30 Club in DC. Previous Freefest attendees, Virgin Mobile customers, and Virgin Mobile social media followers will be notified on Aug. 8 about a special opportunity to get tickets a day earlier than the rest of the public. Be sure to follow Virgin Mobile on Twitter or Facebook to take advantage of this opportunity.
