Edgy fringe mag turned modern media empire Vice announced a partnership today with event behemoth Live Nation intended to bring the latter’s world-class event experiences to fans along with Vice content using a cross-device streaming platform.
Vice‘s EDM arm Thump reports the new platform will live across online, mobile, and TV, offering original content from the Vice network and Live Nation properties like Insomniac, HARD, and music discovery site Boomrat.
Dance music aside, the plan will supply the entire Vice family with original content from Live Nation’s bank of vast network of venues and superstars including U2 and Jay-Z.
Live Nation is in this for Vice‘s content infrastructure, the likes of which are required to take the kind of massive step forward for music content that they’re poised to take. In the end, the monetization potential for streaming music events on this scale, if the existing YouTube standard for streaming can be improved upon, is unprecedented.
The project is planned for launch in 2015. Read the Thump announcement here
