Hailing from London, Two Inch Punch is hitting the scene hard with his debut release titled Love You Up, giving a fresh, poppy look at the emerging subgenre of luvstep. Raised on soul music and inspired by the love songs from The Beatles, it’s clear that TIP has his finger on what’s properly mellow going into 2012.
Love You Up’s title track is damn near perfect, giving that cool, jazzy, feel over a soulful bounce. The minor nuances in this track like the chill, constant tambourine really define this one as luvstep (it also doesn’t hurt to sample a hit Brandy track from the ’90s). It’s the perfect beat to close your eyes, slowly bop your head, and get sucked into the groove. The second title on the release is Luv Luv, which uses some James Blake-like vocal tricks and eventually drops into a calm, dancey beat that’s hard to resist. From start to finish, this debut release is all about showing some <3, so let’s see yours!
