I’m always astounded by the production quality of French producer Tristan Garner; we hailed him enormously last year for his tribal banger Raven, easily one of the hardest big room tracks ever produced. This year he blew us away again with a pounding remix with Gregori Klosman of Spectrum by Zedd. Returning with that same level of fury, his new Digital Rocker EP does an incredible job of smashing rock and EDM together.
After a brief 34 second drumroll and guitar driven intro, the Digital Rocker EP takes flight with Meteor. Lifting you off the ground with its soaring melodies and irresistibly catchy hooks, it’s clear by just these first two tracks that Tristan Garner pulls from his own personal palette of synths that really help him distinguish his own sound. Next up is the ruthless electro thrasher Sloan that halfway in simmers down with a sentimental guitar solo just before yelling F*ck That! and erupting once more into total mayhem. The rock influence is especially prominent in the drum & bass title track Digital Rocker, which bounces between tempos and fires off guitar riffs reminiscent of Japanese metal.
