Tiga’s back! The cheeky Canadian and incredible innovator makes a splash with his first original production in four years, on the 100th release of one of the hottest labels around, Crosstown Rebels. Quite a comeback, eh? But we’re not finished yet, as on-fire Subb-an is given remix reins on one of Tiga’s most famous tracks. Leave it to label-head Damian Lazarus to celebrate his centennial with such a superb lineup!
Dark, underground rave at its core, The Picture is as fierce as they come. Tiga starts with his sinister take on Prince’s When Doves Cry lyrics and then multiplies the evil tenfold as a raw, driving bassline writhes underfoot with all the subtlety of a steamroller. Metallic blips and synths mimic strobe lights shrouded in fog, the sensory reminders of many a night spent dancing drenched in sweat. Not to be outdone, Subb-an takes the classic Pleasure From The Bass and infuses it with his signature bass-driven melody. The remix retains the acid and vocals that made the original so popular but adds infectious electro flicks with eerily funky keys. These new-school elements turn Subb-an’s update into a much wider affair than Tiga’s version, sure to make an entire room freak out.
