For longer than arguably any other DJ, Tijs Verwest aka Tiesto has stood as a top-ranking rock star performer, touring worldwide for some of the largest crowds ever assembled. The Dutchman is a true legend and has succeeded in earning the <3 of a whole new generation of EDM fans here in the US and abroad.
Last year, Tiesto dedicated a new compilation named Club Life to the bustling EDM hot spot of Las Vegas that featured huge hits like Don’t Ditch with Marcel Woods, Zero 76 with Hardwell, and C’Mon with Diplo. He then carried its sound across the country through a College Invasion Tour with Porter Robinson. This year’s second volume honors the city of Miami and brings with it another onslaught of banging tunes including his latest Beatport chart topper–the official remix of Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye & Kimbra. Although just about everyone’s heard the original and many bootleg remixes that have been circulating around the web, Tiesto’s version is definitely my favorite with its sentimental guitars, clean harmony, and powerful climax.
Club Life Two Miami also delivers some excellent new originals including Chasing Summers, which opens up the DJ mix with gentle melodies and uplifting chords just before dropping into aggressive electro basslines. For fans who prefer vocal tracks there’s a popular new collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner called We Own The Night. Luciana’s vocals here are quite catchy and the guitar riffs complement her voice nicely. With many more solid big room tunes including Maximal Crazy, Life by John Dahlback, and Axwell’s In My Mind, this is a must have for all Tiesto fans. Get it here on Beatport.
