If there’s one thing Sidney Samson is good at, it’s making wonky beats that hit hard. The Dutch house pioneer seems to be doing just that as he waltzes into 2012 with his first huge release of the year, Hold Up.
Hold Up marks a true progression in Sidney’s sound, and it seems to be developing quite nicely. He uses his signature gulping synths in a melodic buildup, but where the track truly shines is the massively aggressive drop. In your face, club-thumping Dutch electro is accompanied by nonstop snare rolls which just straight up light this track on fire. Sidney’s releases seemed to get a little redundant last year, but if this is the approach he’s taking for 2012 I can’t wait to see what else this guy has in store. For a bit of a different sound from the Dutchman, also check out Sidney’s French house-inspired Panorama, a track that has found a home across many of my playlists.
