If your ears are starving for something a little different, perk up: UK breakers the Stanton Warriors just dropped a new LP called The Warriors. With no fewer than twelve original pieces for your enjoyment, get ready for some serious madness. If you’re a fan of breaks or the Warriors, you probably caught Shmurkio’s introductory post on the duo a while back. This album includes that ripper Turn Me Up Some, with eleven more to complement.
With The Warriors, Stanton Warriors decided to pursue a decidedly vocal route. That’s not to say there’s a lack of grindy, electrified goodness–it’s neatly wedged between the hip-hop and house-inspired vocals in almost every track. New York is an instant fan favorite with glitched-out vocals and a slamming electro line. With Ouepe Ouepa, the listener encounters a wild, Baltimore beat-based slammer. Finally, Bushido has a shamisen-strung hip-hop vibe–right before the dirty wobbles kick in.
