It’s Wednesday again, folks, and that means The Rinse is here to deliver this week’s new drum & bass cuts. The third edition brings a heavy dose of international flavor, featuring fresh music from Brazilian imprint DNBB, a scintillating track from German producer Rowpieces, and of course, some dancefloor fire from the UK with a track by duo DC Breaks. This week’s Rinse also features a wild new video for Reso’s track The Blob, forthcoming on his debut album later this month. As always, if there is a track we missed, drop it in the comments below. Enjoy!
Rowpieces – Brazil Calling (Original Mix) [Liquid V]
Hailing from Munich, Germany, Rowpieces has cut his teeth on the liquid side of D&B for several years, gracing labels like Fokuz, Celsius, and his own imprint Soul Bros. His latest work, titled Brazil Calling, comes by way of Bryan Gee’s Liquid V and showcases his amazing ability to fuse funk, R&B, and soul at 175 BPM. Brazil Calling is part of a larger four-track EP called V Like Vivacious, which which dives deep into the soulful side of liquid D&B. Fishy – Stronger Branches (Original Mix) [DNBB]
Fishy is not a big name in D&B yet, but this Norwegian brings a fresh originality that won’t take long to embrace. His latest track, Stronger Branches, comes by way of Brazilian label DNBB and features a tempered groove on top of an array of cinematic synthetics. Incidentally, his work has appeared on Rowpieces’ Soul Bros Records in addition to several other popular imprints including Celsius and Rotation, to name a few. Fishy’s Stronger Branches is featured on DNBB’s massive compilation album Summer Time Brazil, Volume 2 and can be purchased right here on Beatport.
DC Breaks feat. Bianca – Faithless (Original Mix) [RAM]
Uk duo and D&B vets DC Breaks return to RAM Records with a highly flammable bombshell called Faithless featuring the vocals of upcoming Nottingham singer Bianca. The tune has been championed by Andy C over the last year and recently got its first play from BBC Radio‘s Annie Mac. This should keep the duo’s fans at bay until they deliver their debut album later this year. Make sure to grab Faithless exclusively at Beatport by clicking here.
Boston – Catch Your Breath (Original Mix) [Symmetry]
Uk producer Boston brings a darker vibe to this week’s Rinse episode with a track from his new EP Breathless. The A-side track titled Catch Your Breath straddles subgenres by marrying a liquid-styled pads with a rolling bassline. The fledgling producer delivers a one-two punch with the EP’s flipside track, For Grace, which brings an equally high production quotient with its catchy guitar riffs and organ stabs. Out on Symmetry Recordings, Breathless is now available via Beatport.
DLR feat. Ant TC1 – The Grip (Original Mix) [Dispatch]
DLR dropped his debut album Seeing Sounds this week, and it’s rife with dark vibes and airtight production. Seeing Sounds features several co-producers, one of which is veteran D&B producer and previous collaborator Ant TC1. The two construct one of the album’s most ominous tracks in The Grip–an anxiety-inducing salvo of neurofunk with expertly crafted atmospherics and riveting bass. Pick up The Grip and the rest of the Seeing Sounds LP right here on Beatport.
Reso – The Blob (Original Mix) [Hospital]
Reso is preparing to release what could prove to be the D&B album of the year on Hospital Records, and has just released the first cut called The Blob with an official video (below). It spoofs the 1958 movie The Blob, but its satirical nature couldn’t contrast more to its all-business soundtrack. The song is dancefloor-ready and brings the same hard-edged production style that’s present in every Reso track from The Rugged to When It Drop. Regardless of genre, Reso brings unadulterated sonic aggression to anything he touches. Head over to the Hospital shop to pre-order his forthcoming album Ricochet ahead of its March 30 release date.
