Every year, Movement Electronic Music Festival is packed with a strong, eclectic lineup that’s revered by both the fans and the industry. With so many great artists playing, it can be tough to figure out who’s a must-see. We’re here to help with that with our chart of some of the hottest picks on each stage, each day.
Saturday: Carl Craig
Carl Craig - Falling Up (Carl Craig 2013 Remaster) [Third Ear]

After releasing his first single almost 25 years ago with Derrick May, Grammy-nominated Carl Craig has become a visionary of the Detroit music scene. A world class producer and inspirational global DJ, Carl Craig remains one of Detroit’s finest.

Saturday: Matador (Live)
Matador - Klay (Original Mix) [Minus]

An upcoming star on Richie Hawtin’s M_nus label, Matador has a brooding, electro-influenced techno sound that is part of the upcoming surge of DJ/live performance hybrids, with a setup that allows him to remix and recreate his tracks on the fly with both artistry and efficiency.

Saturday: Alton Miller
The Bug Feat. Warrior Queen - Poison Dart (Original Mix) [Ninja Tune]

Alton Miller’s influences are a direct product of his Detroit upbringing. Surrounded by Motown and other hometown staples, it was around the early ’80s when Alton hooked up with a young Derrick May. The rest is history.

To hit it big as a female DJ in a male dominated industry is difficult, but Nina Kraviz has proven she is here to stay. She’ll be setting the record straight that raw determination and talent got her where she is.

The reggae and dancehall influence is strong in The Bug. Coining his own style as acid ragga, The Bug will be seen programming live synths into the infamous 303 on stage.

Sunday: Squarepusher (Live)
Squarepusher - Energy Wizard (Original Mix) [Warp]

Squarepusher is going to put on one hell of a show at this year’s Movement–his new stage setup links his music to the lights of the stage and his LED helmet. This is an in-person experience only, so put down those camera phones as YouTube will not do it justice.

Sunday: Soul Clap
Laid Back - Bakerman (Soul Clap Remix) [Brother Music]

The professors of house, Elyte and Cnyce of Soul Clap, actually taught a course at Tufts University on dance music. Their smooth as butter sounds always get the hips shaking.
