French producer Joachim Garraud is one of most experienced veterans in the game, so when he puts out a release with as bold of a title as We Are the Future, you know it’s worth turning your head for. While the original may seem like a mere cheesy sample of a 90’s anthem, it goes on to tell the story of how far dance music has come. While the ’90s sampling is going to get everybody’s attention, the contrasting Dutch-influenced melodies that flow into the song a few phrases after the initial drop are what’s going to get the crowd dancing.
The real highlights of this release came packed into the remixes. First we have a remix from relative newcomer Galactic Rumble. I hadn’t heard of he/she/them before this track, but I was more than shocked when their thuddy electro beats strongly lived up to their name. There are rare times where a DJ can somehow manage to keep adding more juice to his set, and this track is definitely one of the tools to get it done. Also showing up for remix duty is Sebastien Benett, a Frenchman who’s spent the last few years establishing himself in the international house scene. With hella-uplifting house chords, and a drop with a bass that absolutely rips, this track manages to cover a ton of ground without giving up any of its standards.
