Some may classify Swedish singer Elliphant as a pop artist, but she is anything but. To prove it, the self-described “twisted illegitimate offspring of MIA and Diplo–as deliciously fierce as the former but as intelligently playful as the latter,” has joined forces with Mad Decent to release her international debut EP, Look Like You Love It.
Unapologetic and outspoken, Elliphant’s defiant attitude is on full display in the lead track Revolusion–the rough, ragged, and raw cut is both gritty and genuine. Two tracks on the EP feature production from Diplo, including Booty Killah, a superlative dancehall thriller that is heavy on bass and short on compromise. Unsurprisingly, the hottest track of the bunch features the rudeboy of bass himself, Skrillex. His hard-hitting, in-your-face production on Only Getting Younger is the perfect complement to Elliphant’s edgy vocals.
