Italian producer Antillas first gained worldwide attention in 2002 with his remix of Plummet’s Damaged. Followed by a remix of Tiesto’s Just Be, he had a somewhat quiet period before joining Armada in 2011 and has since been releasing A+ tracks on a regular basis. 2013 sees another collaboration with fellow Italian producer Dankann, a follow-up to Evolution, which stormed the scene at the end of last year.
Their latest release, Synapse, shows a darker and tougher side to their work. Uplifting and melodic trance is bigger than ever and this track certainly ticks both boxes, but it also offers something more rare and meaningful. It’s not just about massive riffs and getting a dancefloor moving; there are moments that are deep and brooding as well. The break features classic JP pads reminiscent of Dumonde, distant and dreamy piano lines and an spacious and emotional atmosphere. The drop brings the whole track together, with solid pounding Euro-style rhythms combined with subtle electro style synth sounds that bring it right up to date without sounding cliché.
