Welcome back to our series with Beatport known as The Beatport Box, where we bring you the best of Beatport exclusives on a weekly basis. This week, Chase & Status introduce a new drum & bass titan in Dimension, Carlo Lio brings the heat to Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD Records, Brouqade and Jargon drop some amazing compilations, and more.
Deep/Tech | Various Artists – This Is Us 2015 [Brouqade]
Showcasing their firm commitment to the deep tech sound, one of our favorite in-house labels Brouqade have released their first compilation of 2015. Including tracks from Anthea, Vid, Dana Ruh–pretty much the who’s who of heads-down house and techno–this one’s packed with tracks perfect for DJ sets or late night headphone listens. Get it here.
Deep/Tech | Various Artists – Varietati Muzicale (Sampler) [Jargon]
Jargon has dropped their latest sampler and fashion perfectly aligned with the labels “all killer, no filler” policy, this quadruple A-sider is already finding its way into the crates of top jocks world wide. Including bass heavy, tech house crackers from Reelow, ICS, Jaret Sennels and NTFO. Each deep dark diamond will assuredly and rightfully be in heavy rotation leading up to WMC. Download here.
Techno | Carlo Lio – Deebug EP [MOOD]
Toronto/Barcelona techno don Carlo Lio serves up some dark, big room techno on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD Records. The A-side title track leans a bit more the tribal end of things, while B-side No Turning Back relies on a frenetic, chromatically-moving bassline that creates quite the sinister setting. Grab it here.
Dubstep/Electro | Hydraulix & PhaseOne – Hit Rewind [Play Me Too]
It may not dominate the electronic airwaves quite like it did this time last year, but the electro-trap movement is still very much alive. Reid Speed’s Play Me Too has further driven that point home by releasing Hi Rewind, a team up single/remix EP from dream team Aussie du Hydraulix and Phaseone. The original and the included remixes include squelching leads, spastic hat’s and enough low end rumble to rattle the fresh purple flake paint job off your boy’s El Camino. It’s trap-lectro in all its unabashed glory. Pick it up here.
Drum & Bass | Dimension – Whip Slap (Original Mix) [MTA]
Current Beatport #1 in drum & bass comes from MTA newcomer Dimension’s Whip Slap. The track was first premiered by Annie Mac and shot to #1 within 48 hours of release. Stay tuned for the release of his next single, Jet Black, also set to drop on Chase & Status’ MTA. Get Whip Slap here.
