Welcome back to our series with Beatport known as The Beatport Box, where we bring you the best of Beatport exclusives on a weekly basis. This week, Green Velvet and Patrick Topping leave us a Voicemail, complextro shows its face again with DODO#, Groove Phenomenon and Absolut Groovers get tribal, and more.
Deep/Tech | Emde – Never Gonna Know EP [MBF Ltd]
If deep subtle grooves are what you’re looking for while winter sets in, then look no further than the latest from up-and-coming Polish producer Emde. Hot off the MBF Ltd. presses, this expansive, melodic three-tracker is the perfect soundtrack for the cooler season and your darker sets. Get it here.
Tech House | Green Velvet & Patrick Topping – Voicemail (Original Mix) [Relief]
Still riding the success of his massive 2014 tech house hit Forget, Patrick Topping teams up with dance legend Green Velvet in his equally groovy follow-up, Voicemail. Unmistakable Topping style coalesces with Green Velvet funk and vocals to make Voicemail a sure-fire future classic. Expect to hear this next weekend, if you haven’t heard it already. Pick it up here.
Tech House/House | Groove Phenomenon – Africa Tribe [Work]
This is one of those cases where, in our humble opinion, the remix came out better than the original. While the original mix of Africa Tribe certainly has its own merits, the Absolut Groovers remix is the one that has been getting the most spins, with its chanting vocals and tribal rhythms that could ignite most any dancefloor. Get the package here.
Electro | DODO# – Inburst [CLUBTRXX]
It’s nice to be surprised in electro house these days, especially with the “Ctrl-C Ctrl-V” formula we see on the charts day in and day out. With his debut release Inburst, DODO# reminds us there’s more to EDM than giant drops and quantized cowbell clonks. Heavenly, melodic complextro is still very much alive. Grab it here.
Big Room/Trap/Twerk | Marnik – Gladiators (Original Mix) [Dim Mak]
Wow, Marnik; where did you come from? The Italian big room duo has smashed their way onto the scene with support from labels like Revealed and Dim Mak, the latter of which has released the monster of a tune known as Gladiator. Initially, you may just write this track off as standard big room fodder, but hold out for a second. The twerkalicious breakdown in the middle will make you lose your mind. Get Gladiators here.
