We’re back with the 20th edition of our series with Beatport known as The Beatport Box, where we bring you the best of Beatport exclusives on a weekly basis. In this episode, Clarian hangs with Dinosaurs and Seth Troxler, Mark Sherry debuts some massive remixes on his new label, dirtybird gets Loca, and more.
Techno/Tech House | Clarian – Dinosaurs In Space EP [Play It Say It]
The second release for Seth Troxler’s Play It Say It imprint is another serving of club-ready rockers–this time coming from the mind of Clarian, and complete with two remixes from tech house heavy hitter Paul Ritch. All three versions of Dinosaurs In Space on the EP feature mind melting weirdness on top of slamming beats and pummeling basslines. Slight touches of melodies sit perfectly amidst the driving percussion, with a clear master plan of ensuring the masses sweat to the sounds from start to end. Grab it here.
Deep/Tech/Progressive | Gardens Of God – Gluk EP [BOSO]
BOSO is now three releases deep and already one of our favorite new labels. Merging the best elements of deep house, progressive, and techno, the label is redefining modern day underground club music with emotive grooves that avoid all the obvious tricks and gimmicks. The latest, Gluk by Gardens Of God, is a three track work of musical art made to pull the heartstrings while simultaneously keeping things dark and dirty. Perfectly placed melodies, gritty sounds and rhythms, and unstoppable grooves make this an EP you need. We’re already excited for what comes next. Pick it up here.
Booty Tech | Sacha Robotti & Look Like – Loca Lola EP [dirtybird]
dirtybird has another amazing release out, but what else is new? The release, Loca Lola, apparently came to be during a “heady green tea session” between Sacha Robotti and Swiss producer Look Like while Sacha was in Switzerland for a show. Apparently producers should drink green tea more often, because the result was a booty-poppin’ two-track EP that fits perfectly in the dirtybird catalog. We’re not sure who Lola is, but she’s surely gettin’ loca to these tunes. Get it here.
House/Tech | Roach Motel – Wild Luv EP [Get Physical]
For those who are reading this and instantly recognize the name Roach Motel, pat yourselves on the back, as you’re officially old school. For those who don’t know, Roach Motel is the legendary alias of British duo Pete Heller & Terry Farley, the guys responsible for the trailblazing Junior Boy’s Own label. Fortunately for the new schoolers, Get Physical Music has brought Roach Motel back to life with a re-release of their classic Wild Luv for a new generation, complete with remastering, and new remixes. Get wild here.
Trance/Techno | Mark Sherry – Live & Learn EP [Outburst]
Tech trance master Mark Sherry has finally launched his own label, Outburst, and if the first release is any indication of what’s to come, we’d recommend buckling yourself in for the ride. It’s a two-track remix package of Mark Sherry’s 2004 hit Live & Learn, with reimaginations by John O’Callaghan’s darker pseudonym Joint Operations Centre, and Alex Di Stefano. The former is a wild ride through techno, trance, and a variety of BPMs, while Alex’ take stays more on the hard techno end of the spectrum. Purchase here.
