We’re back with our series with Beatport known as The Beatport Box, where we bring you the best in Beatport exclusives on a weekly basis. For this edition, we’ve got the newest EP from Blond:Ish, the return of ATB, an ethereal tune from Bobina and Smack My B*tch Up vocalist Shahin Badar, and more.
Deep/Tech | Blond:Ish – Wunderkammer EP [Kompakt]
If you’re not yet familiar with Blond:Ish, get started immediately by checking out their latest (and possibly best) release to date. Released on the always reliable Kompakt, Wunderkammer is a slice of huge tech house saturated in Burning Man-inspired psychedelic sounds and Berlin warehouse party grooves. The ladies behind Blond:Ish certainly know how to craft essential club weapons, and this three-track EP is no different. With an album allegedly coming soon, Wunderkammer is a great way to keep the excitement going while waiting. Get the EP here.
Techno | Radio Slave – Repeat Myself [Work Them]
Definitely not a track for radio play, the latest single from Radio Slave, Repeat Myself, is essentially designed ONLY to be played in the mix, in the right moment, for the right underground crowds. We’re loving this release, a techy DJ tool of repetitive everything–the beats, the sounds, and the vocal–all keeping along at a steady, loopy pace. Label owner Spencer Parker takes on remix duty with a beefed up version with themes keeping true to the original. Finally, A DJ Tool a capella rounds out the release for additional repetition and trickery opportunities. Repeat yourself here.
Progressive/Big Room | ATB with Boss & Swan – Raging Bull [Kontor]
ATB has returned, and what a triumphant return it is! Raging Bull comes correct in all its epic, progressive house glory. Definitely a track going for “pop” status, ATB’s latest single includes infectious melodies over sultry vocals and huge synth work. For those looking for a less pop-leaning version, the Richie Romano remix conjures up the vibes of NYC tribal house with a fresh progressive take. Get it here.
Big Room | Michael Brun – Zenith (Original Mix) [Kid Coconut]
Haitian producer Michael Brun has a new label called Kid Coconut, and the debut track, Zenith, has just dropped as a Beatport exclusive. According to Brun, “Kid Coconut will let people hear the unfettered spectrum of my music. From the progressive melodic big-room sound, to my deeper club-oriented music, and a host of Haitian and Caribbean influenced cuts that I’m so excited to share.” There isn’t too much going on in the way of Caribbean influences in Zenith, but regardless, it is a monster of a track with a nice dose of melodic synths that should quickly put Kid Coconut on the map. Purchase here.
Trance | Bobina feat. Shahin Badar – Delusional (Original Mix) [Magik Muzik]
Shahin Badar, the vocalist behind Smack My B*tch Up by The Prodigy, has teamed up with Russian producer Bobina for a unique trance track oozing with techy, Middle Eastern sensibilities. Released by Black Hole sub-label Magik Muzik, Delusional is a breathtaking work of art that will surely be a head-turner in any trance DJ’s set. Grab it here.
