We’re back with our series with Beatport known as The Beatport Box, where we bring you the best in Beatport exclusives on a weekly basis. This week we’ve got a big new compilation for Drumcode fans, Kaskade’s venture into the deep, a Paul Oakenfold rework of a trance classic, and more.
Deep/Tech/Chill-Out | Kaskade – Redux EP
Following the resounding success of his out-of-the box Redux tour, Kaskade has released an EP of the same name that celebrates the chiller side of his music. Opening track Please Say You Will is 100 percent chill-out, with a vocal that sounds reminiscent of Antony from Antony & The Johnstons. The rest of the EP is a groovy exercise in deeper four-on-the-floor rhythms not commonly heard from the man otherwise known as Ryan Raddon. Get Redux here.
Techno | Various Artists – A Sides Volume II Part 2 [Drumcode]
Drumcode is a label that remains consistent when it comes to big and booming warehouse techno stormers. When they put together a compilation, things get even larger, which is the case of their latest A Sides collection. The 10-track masterpiece is full of punishing techno sounds from familiar names like Nicole Moudaber, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, and Bart Skils, alongside future favorites like Trikk, Gery Otis, and Kimono. Each track as strong as the last and is designed to rock the room. Grab it here.
Indie/Electro/Techno | Depeche Mode – Delta Machine (Boys Noize & Djedjotronic Remixes)
We’d be foolish to ignore how awesome it is to see both Depeche Mode and Boys Noize on the same release. The remixes of tracks from the Delta Machine album by both Boys Noize and Djedjotronic take the originals and run them through some dirty production. Catchy melodies, perfectly placed percussion, and some heavy analog squelching make up the mixes, with that familiar voice of frontman Dave Gahan bring a bit of nostalgia and familiarity to the dancefloor. We love it. Purchase here.
Big Room/Electro | S – A vs AN21 & Sebjak – GODS [Size]
Size Records has released another veritable monster with GODS, a joint collaboration between S – A (aka Steve Angello), his brother AN21, and Swedish producer Sebjak. “Ominous” is the word with this one, with dramatic orchestral hits lining the breakdown and buildup and leading into a heavy, snare-laden drop. Procure it here.
Trance | Paul Oakenfold – Madagascar [Perfecto Fluro]
Paul Oakenfold has been around and back again in the dance music scene. For his latest effort, he looked back into the past to the songs that inspired his journey and created his own interpretations of them. Classic track Madagascar, originally produced by Art Of Trance, has been re-created by Paul and morphed into a slammin’ trance anthem, using the melodies of the original 1998 hit and adding modern elements.
