This week’s edition of The Technodrome is a very special one, as we dive into the mind of Windsor, Canada’s Justin James to pick his brain for his five favorite songs of the moment. With hit releases on Richie Hawtin’s Minus, Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, and his own refused. imprint, JJ has made a name for himself as a genuine techno talent and an all-around dancefloor destroyer. In his own words, check out what gets his blood pumping–you won’t be disappointed.
Jose M & TacoMan – Bad Poem (Original Mix) [refused.]
I’ve been a fan of Jose M and TacoMan for a few years now. I love their take on house and techno. Bad Poem really stood out to me and I happily signed it to my label refused.. It’s receiving some great support on the promo front. I’m quite happy for these guys.
Pick it up Oct. 27.
D-Unity – Our House (Original Mix) [Unity]
I always seem to have a favourite track by D-Unity at any given moment in my record box. It’s this one now. I really enjoy his techno with distinct house accents. This track is no different.
Pick it up Oct. 26
Maksim Dark & Diana Milles – Metamorphosis (Original Mix) [Shinocs]
Maksim Dark is another one of my favourite producers at the moment. His minimal sound is very unique. This track blew me away when I first heard it. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for this guy.
Sinisa Tamamovic – Wrong Call (Original Mix) [Mindshake]
I have always been a fan of Sinisa’s productions. His tracks are simply big, fat groovers. Amazing jacking percussion and thick basslines are his specialty. His tracks just work.
Justin James – Planned Deviation (Original Mix) [SCI+TEC]
I guess I should put one of my productions in this list. Planned Deviation is a track on an EP that I am super proud of. It came out on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC. It was a long time in the making. Glad to see it reach the #1 spot on Beatport.
