Welcome back, techno lovers. Following last week’s explosive curated episode by Sian, The Technodrome returns to its regular programming: me! This week’s episode features new techno music from Fur Coat, Stephan Bodzin, Hunter/Game, and more. Go on. Get some.
Luca Ballerini – Hanami (Armonia Rosa) (Original Mix) [Cocoon]
Italy’s Luca Ballerini returns to Cocoon with Hanami (Armonia Rosa), a cosmic techno odyssey replete with majestic chords, jaw-dropping melodies, and an ethereal, cinematic quality that is sure to leave you a quivering puddle on the dancefloor. Absolutely mind-blowing. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Alex Niggemann – Virgo (Fur Coat Remix) [Last Night On Earth]
If you’re not familiar with Venezuelan duo Fur Coat, their awe-inspiring new Essential Mix is a great place to start. Their newest release is a deep, dark, and driving remix of Alex Niggemann, out now on Sasha’s label. The second the ominous vibes and pounding kick arrived, I was sold. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Marc Romboy – Hypernova (Stephan Bodzin Remix) [Systematic]
I still can’t get enough of Stephan Bodzin’s recent LP, Powers Of Ten, but with this new remix it’s clear that the German maestro isn’t taking any time off. The mesmerizingly melodic masterwork oozes soul and showcases why, even after 20 years in the game, he continues to wow crowds worldwide. Pick it up Aug. 28.
Mars Bill – Body Count (Original Mix) [Suara]
Suara is quickly becoming my go-to source for deep, progressive techno, and it’s because of artists like Mars Bill. Body Count, off the Kitties On Trance compilation, is an atmospheric explosion that lives up to its namesake–expect to be sending your friends to the dance music infirmary after his one hits. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Weval – Gimme Some (Hunter/Game Remix) [Kompakt]
Kompakt is yet another label that seems unable to disappoint. Their new Kompakt: Total 15 compilation features a bevy of big-name tracks from artists like Kolsch, Gui Boratto, and John Tejada, but my favorite at the moment is Hunter/Game’s remix of Weval’s Gimme Some. I’ve waxed poetic on the Italian duo’s ability to craft mind-melting audial journeys before, but I’ll say it again: these guys are good. Pick it up on Beatport here.
