The Technodrome, LessThan3’s weekly dose of the best in new techno music, returns after a one-week hiatus while I was off in another dimension partying on a private island north of Toronto (no, seriously). While I was there, I stumbled upon some tasty new treats for you underground music-loving dance fiends to feast on. This week’s edition includes tracks from Scuba, Blond:ish, Matthias Tanzman, and more. Happy stomping!
Scuba – Glacial (Original Mix) [Life and Death]
The Hotfluss boss takes a turn on can’t-do-wrong techno label Life and Death as part of the Some Things Rise compilation, which also features cuts from Locked Groove, Sei A, and Alex.Do. With cavernous reverb and walls of dubbed-out sound, Glacier is sure to bring the heat to every late-night party it comes across, despite what its name suggests. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Blond:ish – Endless Games (Original Mix) [Kompakt]
Two of my favorite ladies in the game deliver the first single from their forthcoming debut album, and if it’s anything to go by, the LP should be a trip for both the mind and the body. A slow-burning storm of dark energy and airy drums, Endless Games smothers you in a windstorm before offering a hint of respite courtesy of bright vocals, all before the tempest swallows you up again. Jel Ford – Overcast (Original Mix) [Drumcode]
Jel Ford returns to Drumcode riding on the massive success of his remix of Alan Fitzpatrick’s For An Endless Night with the three-track Red Mist EP. Each track is an electrifying blast of high-energy, peak-time techno in its own right, but it’s Overcast that has me reaching for my rave towel in the middle of the week. Sometimes, you just just want a no-nonsense rager to lose yourself to–this is it. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Matthias Tanzman – No Sleep (Original Mix) [Saved]
Germany’s Matthias Tanzmann makes his debut on Saved Records with a two-track EP that will definitely give you No Sleep at night. The title track is a bombastic, bassline-driven bomb replete with funky, chunky, tribal percussion, a stamina-stretching atmosphere, and relentless energy and flavor. Don’t put this on if you value your beauty sleep. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Arjun Vagale – Are You There? (Stephan Hinz Remix) [Octopus]
Octopus has long been a favorite label of mine, and for good reason–it’s the go-to spot for boisterous barrages of big room techno. Arjun Vagale’s new single has been tearing up the Beatport Top 100 Techno chart, as has the Stephan Hinz remix, which is a delirious dance tune that features a face-melting bassline and enough energy to flatline a horse.
