Techno fans the world over know about Berghain (pictured), the infamous, super-exclusive Berlin club that sits as the world headquarters for the genre. You might not be cool enough to get inside, but with the second edition of The Technodrome, featuring new techno music from Adam Beyer, Alberto Ruiz, Francis Preve, and more, who cares?
Adam Beyer – Stone Flower (Original Mix) [Drumcode]
Head-honcho of Drumcode and reigning techno king Adam Beyer returns with the lead track from his upcoming Stone Flower EP, out May 4. In typical Beyer fashion, the tune is a hard-hitting blast of pounding techno music that still manages to deliver an irresistible groove as it showers the listener with dark vocals and late-night tribal energy. Pick it up here when it drops.
Coyu feat. Daniel Wilde – Desire (Alberto Ruiz Remix) [Suara]
Majorca’s Alberto Ruiz has been a favorite of mine for a while thanks to his deliciously dark and driving tunes, and his latest, an after-hours rework of label boss Coyu’s vocal-driven original, is yet another perfect addition to your digital crates. There’s a reason his name always seems to pop up when people start asking for new techno tracks. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Recondite – Think Twice (Original Mix) [Life and Death]
Yes, I already featured Recondite in last week’s edition, but I would be remiss if I skipped over the German maestro’s newest EP, out on can-do-no-wrong label Life and Death. The title track will have you coming back again and again to lose yourself in the poignant and pensive array of pulsing synths, understated percussion, and slightly sinister vibes. Pick it up on Beatport here. PS – He’s playing the official MEMF afterparty on the Saturday, and the lineup is STACKED.
Jayforce – Movement Nation (Original Mix) [Funk’n Deep]
I’ve seen and lost my mind to Toronto’s Jayforce more times than I care to count, but for those who haven’t, here’s a taste of what the CZ resident brings to the decks. Primed for those hot, sweaty afterparties that go on until the sun comes up, Movement Nation features demonic vocals, relentless percussion, and something inherently wicked. I get chills every time I hear the buildup. Pick it up on Beatport here.
Francis Preve – Weeble (Original Mix) [Audiophile Deep]
Need to take a little breather? This next tune, the title track off Austin, US-native Francis Preve’s new EP is a chunky, wobbly walk through fat basslines, whistles, oomph-inducing vocal samples, and a booty-shaking rhythm. Perfect for peak-time in the club or at a dirtybird BBQ, you can pick it up on Beatport here.
