Last year, multi-genre artist Santiago Niño rocked us with stunning tracks that straddled the line between tech and progressive. With sounds that range from chill-out to raw techno, few have balanced these genres as effectively as the Colombian producer.
Recently, Santiago’s been returning to his experiment tech house roots with a set of hard-hitting releases that are pretty different from other tracks we showcased from the artist last year. Among my favorites is Nothing Whatever, released on Cohagen Records. A catchy tune with bouncy tech beats and fun sampling, this is a perfect energy track to get any crowd going without too much bass or melody. The same goes for Zeta Reticuli and Ping Pong, raw techno numbers that also recently surfaced from Santiago’s studio. While I’m digging these tracks, I hope we’ll see more progressive, melodic tunes from el Niño this year.
