French future house superstar Tchami closes out the year in explosive style with his sophomore EP, the five-track After Life, out now on his own Confessions label.
The EP’s two lead singles, the eponymous title track and AC Slater collab Missing You, have already made waves throughout 2015, but the other tracks are well worth multiple rinses as well. Freakin, his collab with recent Fool’s Gold Records signee Dombresky, is signature Tchami with its infectious melodies, piano play, and soulful vocals.
On the flip-side, the last two tracks on the EP showcase a different side to our favorite priest. Alone, featuring R&B producer Illangelo, is a soft, lush, and subtle track that drifts around vocalist Chuck Ellis’ yearning croons. The other, Superlativ, starts off slow but quickly heats up into a snarling, snapping, bass-heavy burner.
Take a look at Tchami’s catalogue from the last 12 months, which includes this EP plus remixes for Jack U and Caroline Koch, and one thing is clear: the future of future house–and this fantastic flying Frenchman–looks bright.
