As Chris Lake put it succinctly, “it’s impossible for Eric Prydz to make a sh*t record.” Appearing to have no limits to his artistic capabilities, he excels at a wide range of styles, from producing dancefloor wreckers like Mokba and his remix of Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus, to smooth progressive grooves on his Pryda label. Deciding to go by his full name this time around, the former member of the Swedish House Mafia has the world marveling at his latest masterpiece 2Night, which just hit #1 on Beatport. With beautifully arranged melodies and pristine harmony, Eric has once again shown that he’s always up to something incredible.
We don’t always get the pleasure of listening to vocal tracks by Eric Prydz, but when he does share one it’s sure to be a hit. Having released With Me over the summer, this tune had Proto and I listening over and over to its deeply sincere message blended into its driving rhythm. And if I may share one more of his outstanding productions this year, his other Depeche Mode remix for Never Let Me Down takes us on a ride down funk avenue with its catchy beat.
Having personally been a huge fan ever since hearing Genesis back in 2007, many of us living in the US have yet to see him live due to his dislike of flying. While moving to London definitely stepped up his touring, including a residency over the summer in Ibiza, we humbly ask the legend to please grace us with a US appearance.
