Australia’s PIXL is back at it with a two-track EP on Monstercat. Launching into the scene prominently with his winning remix of Adam K & Kaskade’s Raining, PIXL’s vigorous sound has continued on with numerous releases as well as a bootleg of The Veldt by Deadmau5. The new tracks, Astrocat and Galactic Voyage, are solid electro house additions to PIXL’s repertoire.
Astrocat wastes no time, with a monstrous clap and a growling bass entering the waves immediately. Teeth-clenching leads follow an eerie breakdown which sounds similar to a lullaby. There will be no sleep during the spin of this track however as the cuts, bass-soaked stabs, and endless synths make this a proper electro house composition for the books. Leaning towards a more melodic approach, Galactic Voyage follows up with similar percussion, along with a combination of a choppy bassline and echoed synth notes that mesh perfectly together to create a dreamy, yet powerful tune. This package is a must have–pick it up on Beatport here.
