Swiss progressive and vocal house artist EDX just released a very exciting new single, Szeplo (Hungarian for “freckle”), which is sure to be a chart-climber in the coming weeks. EDX is no stranger to the top of the charts–he accompanied Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz as the one of the top three Beatport house artists in 2009, and he shows no sign of relinquishing his envied spot in the house music world. His remixes have spanned Armand van Helden, Steve Angello, and the Mau5 himself, and his music seems to borrow a piece of their influence.
While everyone can find a reason to dance to Szeplo, this song is great for the Dutch house fans who crave less of a stereotypical Dutch house sound. EDX’s sound is less intense and sharp, instead using a sweeter, more melodic sound to carry the drop. Sebastian Ingrosso’s remix of Miike Snow’s Silvia has a similar melody and gives a similar type of feeling when immersing yourself in the build-up. The mixing and energy achieved by EDX’s serious production chops are top-notch. All you need is a spot on the dancefloor.
