Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the hottest progressive act when it comes to both beats and beauty. Already well known for their impressive Armada and Anjunadeep releases, Dinka consists of producer Christian Hirt and the gorgeous DJ Tamara (pictured). Based in Lucerne, Switzerland, these two belong to a group named The Helvetic Nerds, of which George F. Zimmer, Daniel Portman, and EDX are also members.
This tag team’s latest gem, The Quietest Moment, lines up perfectly with how they describe their own music: catchy melodies, stomping house grooves, and spherical harmonies. Released on the aptly named label Enormous Tunes run by Chris Reece’s Unreleased Digital, this track is complete with an epic strings intro and filled with a wide array of sounds that form into a terrific sonic symphony. Next, Dinka’s remix of George F. Zimmer’s Bilbao fuses loads of of retro synths with uniquely minimal stabs. The track features a sample at 3:05 from the 1942 classic film Casablanca right before its blissful climax. Assuming you’d want to hear more after those two, I’m leaving you with Selling England, a track that sports a distinct and assertive bassline, sparkling female vocal samples, and massive pads.
