Deemed by some as one of the fathers of electro house music, Benny Benassi has destroyed the summer festival season once again with monster dance tracks both old and new. His latest single Spaceship is a song that I expect to hear not only lighting up dancefloors, but blasting on top 40 stations across the country. Featuring the already otherworldly Kelis, apl.de.ap from the Black Eyed Peas, and Jean-Baptiste, this track falls into a new brand of mainstream electronic music similar to The Black Eyed Peas’ Rock That Body.
Also, checkout the equally grandoise remixes of the track by The Toxic Avenger and EDX. The Toxic Avenger take on Spaceship has a heavy electro sound – who would’ve guessed? A little more than halfway through the track, though, they drop into what I can only describe as an “intelligent dub beat.” On the other hand, the EDX remix sports a much softer, melodic house feel similar to that of the Anjunabeats collection. One could even go as far as to say this is THE summer dance hit of the year.
