Canadian producer Soundprank has been a solid presence on EDM scene for a while now, confidently treading the line between trance and progressive house, while simultaneously showing that the two have much more in common than you might think. His latest release sees a return to Enhanced and is the perfect example of his ability to cross genres.
Flare features elements of both genres, yet the two are intertwined throughout, avoiding the “trance break, prog house drop” recipe that often divides a track into jarringly different sections. Flare has a very flowing feel, mixing prog house chord stabs and jumpy bass riffs with stuttered vocals and beautiful piano lines, all topped off with some sampled vocal chops that give the whole thing a very uplifting atmosphere.
Flare is out now and is a wonderful reminder that genres can coexist in ways only limited by the producer’s imagination.
