Dutch house has absolutely exploded over the past year or two. As usual, however, with such mainstreamization, a large number of crappy tunes get an unreasonable amount of attention and so people try to hastily throw something together to jump onto the bandwagon. Lucky for us, there are still producers out there who are looking to innovate this somewhat stale subgenre. R3hab and Ferruccio Salvo have done a great job switching things up with their new track Pump The Party, featured on Chuckie Presents Dirty Dutch Vol. 2. Incorporating Arabian-sounding instruments and some snake-charming melodies, the duo have assembled a standout that is sure to get playtime out there by the Dutch house greats.
Of course the track wouldn’t be complete without some of that signature sound–and it definitely has a presence in this track with a groove that is somewhat Afrojack-y in style. The underlying beat is downright tribal and will surely get dance floors heated up. I would have suggested a bit better integration of the two different pieces of the track, since for the majority of the song it’s mostly part A, then part B, then repeat. Near the end of the track there’s an attempt to put them together, but the melodic portion contrasts a bit too strongly with the hard electro-slides. Other than that, great track!
