Dubstep enthusiasts, mark your calendars! Earlier this afternoon, six-time Grammy-winning DJ/producer Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) declared his colossal plans to conquer San Francisco, Brooklyn, Amsterdam, and Barcelona in February 2014.
Following his initial sold-out citywide takeover campaign, which originally invaded New York and LA back in 2012, the bass music juggernaut once again sets his scopes upon a handful of urban hotspots, as he prepares to curate a week’s worth of events within each of the lucky cities.
Joined by his infamous posse of OWSLA label-mates and musical accomplices (including Jack Beats, Alvin Risk, KOAN Sound, and plenty more), Skrillex will explore a variety of different nightlife environments throughout his upcoming conquests. From classified warehouse gatherings to intimate concert halls, and even an Amsterdam boat party, the 20-gig itinerary intends to expose fans to all-new performance settings.
Eager to launch next year’s takeover series, Sonny expressed his anticipation:
“I’m excited to do another round of Takeovers. This time we chose four cities that I really think represent and support great art and rad artists: San Francisco, Brooklyn, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. I can’t wait to play some new stuff for you guys.
Considering the wild party antics from the OWSLA chief’s previous weeklong city-stays, the next round is expected to up the ante once more. With talks of elaborate stage production, festive costume themes, and special guest performers, who knows what 2014’s takeovers will have in store for partygoers?
