Reigning from Perth, Australia, Karl Thomas aka ShockOne is without a doubt one of the biggest up-and-comers in drum’n’bass today.
His recent remix of the Cutline single Die For You is simply a timeless hit that features vocals which I will describe as “humble, yet hopeful.” I know that by nature DnB is a genre that brings a ton of energy to the table, but few do it like ShockOne. This track is brutal yet melodic, and emotional whilst not giving a f*ck. It is equally satisfying whether you’re a die-hard fan of the genre or a cool dude/dudette just looking for some new music.
If you’ve been following my posts, you’ll have noted that I have a big thing for producers with versatility. ShockOne displayed his overall adaptability in 2009 with his dubstep track Adichigahara’s Theme. Rather than focusing on pure grime with this track, Thomas mended the filth of dubstep with a much more worldly sound. This one is without a doubt one of the more original, and overall satisfying dubstep tracks I’ve heard… ever.
