With the constant rush of new artists, songs, and techniques of today’s EDM, only a few artists are able to hold a top spot for more than a fleeting moment. Sander van Doorn is one of the few. His radio show Identity on Sirius XM, residency at Amnesia in Ibiza, and frequent releases have kept Doorn’s career on an upward progression–he hit #32 on DJ Mag’s top 100 in 2006, #13 in 2008, and #12 in 2010.
Intro commences Doorn’s latest release From Dusk Till Doorn, and it really delivers as a great opener. There are no bells or whistles–Doorn’s reinterpretation of indie rock outfit The xx’s track is pure tension, with a menacing reverb sitting on top of a sweet, sweet bass. An echoed guitar gives us the unique signature of the song, but don’t get too comfortable; the center of the drop is the kick, big and beautiful.
From Dusk Till Doorn is jam-packed with high quality tracks, so it probably won’t be long until Doorn strikes again. Get ready.
