Seven Lions’ Slithery ‘Serpent of Old’
Seven Lions feat. Ciscandra Nostalghia - Serpent Of Old (Original Mix) [OWSLA]

Are you ready to get ghastly? Dreamstep king Jeff Montalvo, aka Seven Lions, returns with his darkest and most demonic production yet, the sinister Serpent of Old, out now on OWSLA.

As a follow-up to his melodic and heart-wrenching single Strangers, this ain’t your usual Seven Lions, believe me. Featuring the demonic shrieks and wails of vocalist Ciscandra Nostalghia, Serpent of Old is dark and gothic midtempo track that can best be described in one word: terrifying. As a producer, Seven Lions cites metal and trance as his biggest influences, and it’s easy to see which one he is channeling here. Some of you may be disappointed that this release isn’t another blissful piece of dubstep, but I think it’s great to see an established artist explore new ground. You can grab Serpent of Old right now on Beatport and iTunes.

Accompanying the release is an awesome video titled Melancholy Headbanging with Seven Lions. Noted video director Jason Ano collaborated with THUMP to interview Seven Lions in his home in Santa Barbara, California, where they spoke about his influences, his joys, and life in general. Check it out below.
