A big hit at Austin’s South By Southwest (SXSW) last year, Britain’s own Fenech-Soler has bloomed into what is nothing short of an electro-pop fanatic’s wet dream. With lead singer Ben Duffy collaborating with Groove Armada and an explosive remix of Mariana and the Diamonds’ Hollywood in 2010, the band looks as though they’re going to have an even sweeter 2011 with the release of their fourth single, Demons.
If there’s going to be an indie-electro anthem for 2011, I’m going to bank on this track. As catchy as the herp at a Jersey Shore party, Demons channels all that’s good in the ’80s synth revival we’ve been seeing as of late.
Also notable is Plump DJs’ special treatment, which adds a complete bombshell of a beat post-chorus and provides a viable dancefloor dropper that’s sure to keep your body shaking. If you’re in the mood for a more laid back version, check out Sigma’s dubstep remix; it has all of the charm of the original but is designed with ease of beat in mind.
