Yes, they’re sisters, and yes, they are identical. 21-year-old Swedish-Australian twins Miranda and Elektra Kibley, aka Say Lou Lou (formerly Saint Lou Lou), only have three songs in their discography, but you wouldn’t know it after listening to their newest release, Julian, out now on à Deux, via Downtown Records. It’s a dreamy and sexy piece of ’80s-influenced pop music that belies their age and experience. Thankfully, their work hasn’t gone unappreciated, and a pair of talented producers have put out their own unique twists on the song.
First up is Seattle-based producer Sango, who has transformed Julian into a dark and buzzing trap banger. Sango’s take is pure sex–a throbbing, smoky remix that feels much more urgent than the original. Next up is a remix from quite possibly my favorite artist of the year so far–Monsieur Adi. It’s yet another giddy, infectious, and downright beautiful remix from the French Touch maestro. A pulsing bass, airy pads, and stunning melodic progressions give the song a warm and wispy quality without losing sight of the original song’s message. This is electro pop cooked to perfection, and right now there is no one doing it better. Head over to iTunes to pick up the Julian EP now.
