Moonbeam is back, delivering a new single off their upcoming studio album The Secret. The Russian duo has yet to fall below the mark this year (if ever), setting higher expectations with every successful release. On the darker side of the progressive spectrum, I find Moonbeam’s often melancholic melodies to be poignant and genuine. Wanderer is no different, an pensive vocal track matched with stellar set of complex rhythms.
After a string of trancey/progressive productions, Moonbeam decided to go minimal last month with Motus. Wanderer marks a return to the progressive realm, a welcome transition given how how I love Moonbeam’s diversity. Wanderer’s dark techy beat in the original is beautifully complemented by Moonbeam’s lighter, more polished “progressiver” remix. Collaborator Eitan Carmi may be the remix winner of the bunch, with a catchy percussion pattern perfect for the live setting.
