Yes, yes, the Circus is back in town. The dubstep label headed by Doctor P and Flux Pavilion has been somewhat quiet lately, but once again opens it doors to release a new EP from stalwart Circus act Roksonix. The new EP, entitled Get Live/Girlz, represents the first work for the London duo since they dropped their remix of Nero’s Me & You back in June. As always, the tune represents Circus sound exquisitely, with high-pitched leads, sophisticated filter modulations, and addictive melodic phrases.
The first track on the EP, Get Live, is a hip-hop infused dubstep mash-up with typical Circus sounds and a heavy resonant bassline. The Circus camp is known for delivering squelchy leads and rhythmic, modulating melodies, and Roksonix stamps this signature sound all over Get Live. Throw in the hip-hop vocal sample and the result is bone-shattering bass romp. On the flip-side, Girlz features popular bass music vocalist MC Spyda with his dancehall-flavored lyrics. This tune has a shiftless vibe, shuffling along as Spyda lays down a blazing vocal track. Not as much treble in this tune as Get Live, but the bass is just as beastly.
