Nadus’ original mix begins unassumingly enough, with twinkling piano lines bouncing off of minimal, featherlight percussion. But Nxwxrk shows its true (blinding, neon) colors when the beat finally drops, bursting in a dazzling array of syncopated synth stabs that ooze optimism. Grime is smart not to tweak too much here, but his additional percussion work adds a deeper sense of tension to the builds, which he then capitalizes on with some appropriately frantic hi-hats after the drop.
RL Grime says he’s busy at work on new material, but while we wait, his Nxwxrk edit is available for free on SoundCloud. Nadus’ Broke City EP, beyond being a solid collection of tunes, also supports a great cause: all proceeds and royalties will be donated to the Newark Boys Choral School. Pick it up on Beatport.
