The ever-reliable In Search Of Sunrise series, a byword for trance since 1999, will soon unleash its twelfth installment.
For many years the series was the work of Tiesto, until he flew to pastures new and handed over the controls to Richard Durand (pictured) in 2010. Since the third outing, each chapter of the ISOS series has been inspired by a particular area of the planet, and this time around it’s the glamour of futuristic Dubai.
Durand is joined on mixing duties by British trance legend Lange, who takes over the third disc of the trio. Trance is the order of the day throughout each mix, with appearances from the likes of Sean Tyas, Sunny Lax and Andy Moor.
To give you a taste of what’s on offer, we’ve got two exclusive tracks from the compilation. The first is a dark and moody piece of trance from Czech producer Driftmoon. The Inquisitor is big riffs mixed with dark, dirty basslines and distant choral pads–an addictive and promising effort from an up-and-coming producer. On the flip side, Richard Durand himself takes things on a slightly harder trip with Sambuca, featuring healthy shots of distorted bass and raw synth melodies.
In Search Of Sunrise is an institution in trance music, and with good reason–it’s solid, honest, and always reliable. ISOS 12 is out on June 2.
